Sharon (a personal trainer for brides in Brisbane) and her husband Dan rocked a gorgeous Old Hollywood look for their wedding with a touch of vintage and a heaping of romance. How incredible do Sharon’s bridesmaids look in their Carla Zampatti gowns and Sharon’s hair is perfection.
Couple: Sharon and Dan
Date: 24th July, 2009
Location: Ceremony – Private Residence, Dakabin, QLD. Dinner – old pasta factory, Fortitude Valley, QLD.
Photography: Tom Hall Photography

Gown: MxM Couture
Shoes: Red
Suit: Simple black suit, white shirt, black tie from Admirals Quarters and Stuarts Suits, George St, Brisbane City, QLD.
Wedding Party: Three bridesmaids – Kathryn, Marsha & Kendry who all wore black Carla Zampatti gowns. One groomsman who wore the same as the groom.
Accessories: Headpiece by MxM Couture.
Hair: The Powder Room, New Farm, QLD.
Makeup: The Powder Room, New Farm, QLD.
Flowers: Orchids by Wedding Stems.
Ceremony: Private Residence in Dakabin, QLD. We liked the idea of a garden wedding, but didn’t to be restricted by rules and regulations of a public park, and this family friends’ garden and house is absolutely stunning.
Reception: An old pasta factory in Fortitude Valley, QLD. Catering by Culinart Creative Catering – alternate sit entree, banquet style main. For the dinner/party after the ceremony we didn’t want a ‘function room’ and we were not fussed on any of the ‘bows and trimmings’ of some weddings. So we settled on this old pasta factory. It had cement floors and was kind of rough and ready. We wanted it to be all about the food, wine and friends.
Music: A friend played You Got the Silver by The Rolling Stones at the Ceremony. We had a friend DJ at the dinner, and Dan played Man In Me by Bob Dylan after dinner.
Decoration: We erected a bamboo backdrop and hung white lanterns at the ceremony. Mellita at Wedding Stems put together the table arrangements (cherry blossoms, tulips and orchids) and grouped them together.
Stationery: Invitation House. We used a Lichtenstein pop art image for our invitation.
Cake: Sweetums.
Transport: Dad’s Audi.
Budget Tip: We didn’t have a budget, but we didn’t go all-out crazy either.
Handmade Tip: We made a square out of bamboo from the garden and hung white lanterns from it for the ceremony.
I wish: We both could wish for nothing more.
Something Special: My 80 year old grandma making the trip to Brisbane, saying our vows, Dan singing for me, and basically the whole day.

Wow, I love the styling of the bride. The picture of the bride walking down the isle is a gorgeous. Her expression is lovely! The shot of the couple on the bed looks like it came from a movie! Stunning! This looked like a wonderful day that came together beautifully. Congrats!
This styling is very glamourous! They’ve done a great job!
Just wondering where exactly the reception was? I work in the valley and had no idea there was an old pasta factory!!! I’d love to know where it is…
Hi Kristina,
Sharon tells me that the old pasta factory is above Culinart Catering in Wandoo Street, Fortitude Valley, QLD. The space does not belong to Culinart but the company has access to it, and Sharon recommends contacting them – http://www.culinart.com.au/. I hope that helps.
