Anna and Dugald held a gorgeous, classic wedding at St Mary’s Anglican Church in Brisbane, where Anna’s great grandparents were married. Their reception was held at a historic house in nearby New Farm, overlooking the Brisbane River. I love the bold navy sash that Anna wore, tying in beautifully with her bridesmaid’s dresses.
Couple: Anna and Dugald
Date: 30th May, 2009
Location: St Mary’s Anglican Church, Kangaroo Point and reception in New Farm, Brisbane, Queensland.
Photography: Renee Brazel
Gown: Dress was from Hilde Heim
Shoes: Midas
Suit: Hired from Tony Barlow Formal Hire
Wedding Party: The girls wore Nicolangela dresses bought through Network 2, Paddington, QLD. Groomsmen also hired suits from Tony Barlow Formal Hire.
Accessories: Anna’s earrings were borrowed from her mum, which have been in the family for a number of years and her sister also wore them to her wedding. They are antique drop pearls with tiny diamonds.
Hair: Gigi Hair, Paddington, QLD.
Makeup: Anne from In Therapy, Red Hill, QLD who was great.
Flowers: Julie Vine Flowers – she was wonderful! Bouquet was a mixture of roses, lillies and large fluffy carnations. The flowers throughout the reception venue were a mixture pinks and whites and included roses and lillies.
Ceremony: St Mary’s Anglican Church at Kangaroo Point, Brisbane. Anna’s family priest, who is a great friend of her parents and who is now a Bishop carried out the ceremony. St Mary’s is a gorgeous, sandstone church which overlooks the Brisbane river and city, so we were able to have drinks on the lawn straight after the ceremony. It’s one of the best spots in Brisbane!
Reception: A historic home in New Farm in Brisbane. The food was delicious with a prawn and avocado tian or salmon and cream cheese entree and beef and chicken for mains. We loved the historic house which felt very much like a family home, and we liked the way it flowed from pre-drinks on the lawn and in the sitting room, to the dining room where the guests then moved for the main meal, to the courtyard as the dance floor. There are views of the river and of the Story Bridge.
Music: A string quartet.
Decoration: Julie Vine Flowers, Brisbane, really finished off all of the tables with a mixture of lighting from tea lights and crystal candlesticks which were very elegant.
Stationery: Monograms in Milton, QLD who were excellent and I would highly recommend.
Cake: Cake That!, Alderley, QLD.
Budget Tip: Remember what the day is all about, so continually question whether spending the extra money is really worth it.
I wish: … the band didn’t finish so early and the night didn’t finish so quickly!
Something Special: We stayed in the historic house in a gorgeous room overlooking the river. Dugald’s Mum stocked the fridge with Moet, Baileys and Single Malt Scotch along with a cheese and fruit platter so after all the guests left, the two of us were able to stay up and talk about the night while sipping on champagne

What was the reception venue? Gorgeous! It looks like the Moreton Club..?? Is it no longer available for hire?
Does anyone know what historic house in New Farm this wedding reception was held at?
Hi Monique and Olivia,
Yes, the reception venue is the Moreton Club which is available for the club’s members.
