Surprise Brisbane Powerhouse Wedding

Peita and Andrew hosted a surprise wedding at the Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm – guests were expecting an engagement party! They wanted a modern location near the river, and Watt Modern Dining at the Powerhouse was the perfect venue for them. Beautiful Peita was so clever to pick just the right shade of raspberry red for her Bridesmaids who all look gorgeous in the hue.

Location: Brisbane Powerhouse, New Farm, Queensland.
Photography: Xsight Photography Brisbane. The owners of the Brisbane studio are long standing family friends and we had always admired their crisp and funky pictures.  Ben and Justine have an amazing way of making people feel comfortable and relaxed in front of camera – at one stage Ben was singing loudly at the entrance of the Powerhouse while we were having photos done!  As it was a surprise wedding we had the majority of our photos taken prior to the wedding ceremony and then some taken between the ceremony and reception.

Flinders, Mornington Penninsula Wedding

Lovely Elizabeth and golf enthusiast Gary wanted a small, friendly wedding with a focus on spending time with friends and family in Gary’s family holiday town of Flinders, Victoria. The main feature of seaside Flinders on the Mornington Penninsula is the headland golf course which is also where the ashes of Gary’s late Father are scattered. The couple chose an Autumn colour scheme for their flowers (that are just gorgeous) and the Bridesmaids’ dresses.

Location: Flinders, Mornington Peninsula, Victoria.
Photography: Ellen Dewar (Eclipse Images). Ellen is not usually a wedding photographer but we chose her because she is a friend and we love her images and her down to earth way of working.  We felt comfortable with her.  She has photographed all the special moments in our life and is currently doing family portraits for us (our baby Hannah is one year old).

Smart Casual Berrima Wedding

Madeline and David conquered several challenges to hold their smart casual wedding in the romantic NSW Southern Highlands. Their original wedding venue was cancelled only four months before their wedding day, and their outdoors picnic theme was thwarted by rain on the big day. But that didn’t stop them from celebrating with a fun gypsy-style band, and their closest friends and family.

Classic Brisbane River View Wedding

Anna and Dugald held a gorgeous, classic wedding at St Mary’s Anglican Church in Brisbane, where Anna’s great grandparents were married. Their reception was held at a historic house in nearby New Farm, overlooking the Brisbane River. I love the bold navy sash that Anna wore, tying in beautifully with her bridesmaid’s dresses.

Melbourne Jewish Park Wedding

Sarah and Andrew chose Melbourne’s Fitzroy Gardens for their traditional Jewish wedding ceremony. The spot is close to the Fairy Tree which is a favourite place for Sarah to visit as a child. The couple invited friends and family to contribute different elements such as the Chuppah and flower arranging, to add a special dimension to the pale pink and chocolate-themed wedding.

Couple:  Sarah and Andrew
Date: 8th March, 2007
Location: Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne, VIC.
Photography: Jacqui Melville Photography. We took some more traditional shots in the garden and then moved to the grungy laneways of Melbourne which we both love for the cool graffiti shots.
