Lord Howe Island was the magical location for Anita and David’s intimate wedding. Two hours flight from Brisbane or Sydney, the island is is one of just four island groups to be inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage list for the global significance of its natural beauty and heritage. And a great spot to elope. Anita and David’s low-key wedding was a personal and unique day that they shared with just ten friends. How incredibly romantic that David made Anita’s bouquet for her!

Emily and Kyle wanted a relaxed and simple but classy wedding day. They chose the lovely St Laurence’s Catholic Church in the City of Churches and followed up with a cocktail reception and dancing at the gorgeous Ayers House in the Adelaide CBD. They were clever to save on costs in a lot of areas of their wedding. And how about that dress, perfectly mirrored in the folds of the cake. Simply breathtaking!

For creative couple Jade (handbag designer) and Kym (chef), the focus of their big day was on the marriage itself, so they kept it as pared down as possible with a huge focus on the food which is very important to both the bride and groom. It’s sweetly perfect in its simplicity, and as Kym is an amazing chef, it was fantastic for the guests to be treated to his talent on their wedding day. I love the happy, summery vibe of this wedding.

Photography: We didn’t have professional photographer but had a relative take photos for us who was getting into photography and she was able to use the photos for her portfolio. Also, our Brother-in-Law had an awesome camera and he took some great pics too.

Fabulous crafty Mishy (graphic designer, wedding invitation designer, photographer and blogger) and Stu put a lot of thought into creating a unique, vintage-style wedding on the Sunshine Coast. I just adore all the details that showcase the couple’s creative style, including the cool Kombi van wedding transport and of course the handmade origami folded paper flowers. There are also lots of great budget-conscious ideas for us to learn from. What an inspiration.

Photography: My friend Yan Chan volunteered to do our photography. I have always admired his work, and he was just marvellous. He stayed for the whole night and we got so many great photos. Stuart & I also have a Digital SLR that we handed over to my crafty friend Ange for the day. She took some magical candid shots and had a lot of fun as well.

Rebecca and Chris had spent so many long weekends enjoying the peace and tranquility of Kangaroo Valley on the NSW South Coast hinterland, that it was an obvious destination for their wedding. The couple let the gorgeous surroundings speak for themselves against a colour palette of cream, red and pink. Their relaxed, happy wedding suited them to a T.

I thought it only fair to start off the real weddings with my own! It was gorgeous weather in August on the Sunshine Coast and we held our wedding ceremony and reception both at Harry’s at Buderim for 45 people – guests from Australia and the US. We wanted to keep our day really simple, intimate and budget-friendly and organised it from California where we were living.
