Peita and Andrew hosted a surprise wedding at the Brisbane Powerhouse in New Farm – guests were expecting an engagement party! They wanted a modern location near the river, and Watt Modern Dining at the Powerhouse was the perfect venue for them. Beautiful Peita was so clever to pick just the right shade of raspberry red for her Bridesmaids who all look gorgeous in the hue.
Couple: Peita and Andrew
Date: 14th March, 2009
Location: Brisbane Powerhouse, New Farm, Queensland.
Photography: Xsight Photography Brisbane. The owners of the Brisbane studio are long standing family friends and we had always admired their crisp and funky pictures. Ben and Justine have an amazing way of making people feel comfortable and relaxed in front of camera – at one stage Ben was singing loudly at the entrance of the Powerhouse while we were having photos done! As it was a surprise wedding we had the majority of our photos taken prior to the wedding ceremony and then some taken between the ceremony and reception.

Ballroom dancer and DIY guru Leezar and her husband Corey chose red apples as their wedding theme as their favourite saying is that they are the apple of each others’ eye. How sweet! The colour palette of red (Corey’s favourite colour), chocolate brown (Leezar’s favourite colour) and champagne was woven throughout their special day in historic Windsor, NSW. Not even October showers could rain on this love fest.

Sydney Harbour was the picture perfect location for Paul and Julie’s Irish Australian wedding. With a slight chill in the air, Julie pulled off Old Hollywood glamour to match the historical Rocks church and sweeping harbour views at Walsh Bay – gorgeous even with a broody sky and fantastic for all the international guests. The couple chose red/orange accents and a delicious chocolate crocquembouche cake.

Rebecca and Chris had spent so many long weekends enjoying the peace and tranquility of Kangaroo Valley on the NSW South Coast hinterland, that it was an obvious destination for their wedding. The couple let the gorgeous surroundings speak for themselves against a colour palette of cream, red and pink. Their relaxed, happy wedding suited them to a T.

Carmen and Jamie wanted the colours and theme of their wedding to echo their love of Australia and the outdoors. The use of Australian native wildflowers in the bouquet and on the cake is truly inspired, and the natural tea tree setting frames the couple as beautifully as any chapel.

Photography: Shane O’Neill of Oneill Photographics for the ceremony and Katie Rivers Photography for the bride’s preparation – choose someone that fits your style and budget but most importantly whose company you will simply enjoy on the day – they are with you a long time!

I thought it only fair to start off the real weddings with my own! It was gorgeous weather in August on the Sunshine Coast and we held our wedding ceremony and reception both at Harry’s at Buderim for 45 people – guests from Australia and the US. We wanted to keep our day really simple, intimate and budget-friendly and organised it from California where we were living.
